Dr. Sabrina K. Hyare

Dr. Hyare (formerly Dr. Jagpal) was born and raised in Surrey, B.C. She aspired to be a healthcare professional from a young age. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C. where she majored in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. She then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Pacific University in Portland, Oregon. While attending optometry school, Dr. Hyare’s passion for helping others took her on two eye care missions to the Philippines and Peru. During these medical eye care missions, Dr. Hyare was an integral part of a team that saw thousands of patients, while dispensing twice as many glasses to those less fortunate.

Dr. Hyare is well-trained in the areas of ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, vision therapy, and primary care. She developed a particular interest in ocular disease during a clinical rotation at Central California Veteran’s Hospital where she was able to diagnose, manage, and treat a variety of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal dystrophies and diabetic retinal disease. Dr. Hyare also spent a clinical rotation working along side an ophthalmologist and co-managing LASIK, PRK, and cataract surgery patients. Dr. Hyare also works as a Quality Assurance Assessor for the College of Optometrists of British Columbia. In this role, Dr. Hyare helps ensure that Optometrists throughout British Columbia are providing the same standard of care to all patients.

Dr. Hyare's love for the Lower Mainland brought her back to Surrey, B.C. where she now practices. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She continues to be dedicated to the field of Optometry and promoting eye and total body health.
